Pickleball
A fun and rewarding game for the whole family, play for pleasure or take to the next level and play competitively with us at Manor Park.
One of the fastest growing sports in the world, Pickleball was introduced at the indoor tennis facility at Manor Park in October 2023 and has a regular playing population of over 80 players who play both for fun and, for those who are looking to advance to the next level, competitively throughout the UK. We also play in the West Midlands Pickleball league formed in 2024.
Pickleball is usually played as a doubles game on a badminton sized court. At Manor Park we have two indoor courts permanently marked on tennis court A, one on either side of the normal tennis net, which allows for 8 players to play at any one time.
Roll Up and play sessions are available on Wednesday afternoons (3 sessions of 75 minutes at 1200 pm, 1.15 pm and 2.30 pm) and Saturday mornings (1 session of 90 minutes) with sessions open to both members and non-members. The Wednesday sessions cost £2.50 for members and £5.00 for non-members, and on Saturday the cost is £3.00 for members and £6.00 for non-members. The use of paddle and balls included in the booking price.
Book a Wednesday or Saturday pickleball session
If you are new to pickleball, please do get in touch with us at manorparkpickleball@gmail.com so that we can arrange for someone to be available to welcome you to your first game. We would encourage all new players to come along to the first session on a Wednesday.
If you decide you would like to become a member of Manor Park to play Pickleball, then you would need to purchase the Manor Park Indoor Tennis membership, which includes pickleball. The annual indoor membership fee is £47.00.
As a member you can book Court A for your own game of pickleball (for a fee), which many members do. In this case a pickleball net needs to be brought out and put back. Guests can join a member’s game of pickleball, but only 3 times a year and they have to pay an additional fee of £2.00 to the club alongside any share of court hire fees. There are a couple of WhatsApp groups where people organise games, including weekly sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, although the level of play in these sessions is typically 3.0 and above and those who play more competitively.

Our first Tournament
In August, we held our first club team tournament. 24 players took part, split into two teams, with the format designed to be lots of fun and to accommodate all player abilities. A fun and enjoyable day was had by all with the overall winners being decided on a final team dinking challenge.
The Hot Peppers were the ultimate victors and rewarded with jars of pickles as their spoils (perhaps the Cool Cucumbers weren’t so unlucky after all!!). This is planned to be an annual event.
Telford Champs
Congratulations to Catt and Louise in taking the Gold medal in the Telford Ladies Doubles tournament at the weekend. Playing in the Intermediate Plus category (rating 3.0 upto 3.5) the competition was to a very high standard. Catt and Louise held their nerve and won every game, demonstrating that the many hours of practice and drills reap rewards and the progress they have made since last entering this tournament 7 months ago. Fantastic result!
