In springtime the Club is at its best. There are clusters of daffodils on the grassy bank along the Church Street boundary and at the drive entrance and along the drive verge. There are daffodils and tulips beside the path up to the Clubhouse. Bluebells and wild garlic are in flower along the path of the stream. For a short period there is a mass of bloom on the magnolia tree beside the grass tennis courts. It is a fleeting spectacle.

The summer tennis season is just starting. The surfaces of all fourteen outdoor courts (synthetic grass, acrylic, synthetic clay and grass) have been refurbished since last year. The synthetic grass courts with Tiger Turf surfaces offer excellent playing conditions even in pouring rain. The grass courts have had extensive treatment over the winter months and should be in excellent shape.

The organised Saturday afternoon outdoor  tennis session is filling the courts with social level players, with the added attraction of tea and cake afterwards. All welcome. Grass court opening day is scheduled for Saturday 21st May with a party atmosphere.

Rackets members have the benefit of improvements to the squash courts, with underfloor heating, a glass wall on Court 4 and more spectator space. These changes have been paid for by funds released after the closure of the Hornyold squash club. The success of the crowdfunding activity has made possible the make over of the changing rooms.
