We are pleased to say that the new ventilation system is now being installed and we plan to reopen the bowls hall on Saturday 26th September at 9.00am.
Please note that we have taken account of government advice and guidance from our governing body the EIBA. and we are continuing to monitor their advice at all times whilst the situation is in constant upheaval.
The following is a summary of the modifications we will be making to ensure the club is as safe as possible for your enjoyment of bowling.
If you have any of the symptoms relating to coronavirus, have tested positive for the virus or are in a position where you must self-isolate – PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CLUB PREMISES.
Face coverings – Face masks or shields will be mandatory when at the club. They should be worn on entering, and kept on whilst moving around in the club including changing rooms, toilets and using the vending machine. If desired they can be removed whilst bowling or eating/drinking as long as 2 metre social distancing is maintained. We will have face shields for sale at the club at a cost of £1.50
Social Distancing – It is very easy to forget social distancing protocols – please have them in mind at all times particularly when entering and leaving the bowls hall. 1 metre if wearing a face covering – 2 metres if not (on the rink only)
Track and Trace – Members must sign in the book at the entrance. Please be aware that we are required to maintain records of everyone attending the club and those records must be kept for 21 days.
Changing rooms and lockers – Changing rooms will be open and lockers will be available for use as per updated EIBA guidelines. No more than four people in either changing room at any one time. Please enter and leave the changing rooms as quickly as possible. If you are not sure about re-joining at present you may keep your locker for the time being.
Toilets – Toilets will be open but only one person allowed in either toilet at any one time.
Hygiene – There will be hand sanitiser available at the entrance, on each table and outside the toilets. Please use sanitiser and wash hands frequently for everyone’s safety.
Ventilation – Our new ventilation system will future proof the club as it will ensure that fresh air standards are met for up to 60 people.
Rinks Formats – Initially only singles, pairs and triples may be played using alternate rinks. A maximum of 6 people on each rink so no more than 18 members on the rinks at any one time.

Friendly Games – Unfortunately we have made the decision to cancel all friendly games against other clubs until the end of 2020. We will review the situation later in the year.
Weekend Interclub League – This will run as 3 x triples rather than rinks.
Mats – You should nominate one lead to place the mats throughout the game. The mats should be cleaned with the wipes provided at the end of each game. After cleaning please place mats on the bank to dry to avoid damage to the carpet.
Jacks – There will be a jack at each end of the rink. The skip of the team winning the previous end will place the jack with his/her feet at the preferred spot.
Scoreboards – May be used. Please clean with a wipe at the end of each game.
Scorecards – will be available (please bring your own pen/pencil)
Pushers and cameras – will be out of use.
Chalking woods and measuring is allowed but do not touch woods when doing so (use spray chalk only)
Sanitising – At the end of each game please sanitise mats, jacks, scoreboards, tables and white handrails with wipes provided.
We do not have volunteers to act as stewards throughout the day but believe members will be respectful and thoughtful and adhere to these procedures for everyone’s safety. Happy bowling !
