Malvern Hills Indoor Bowls Club have already made an impressive start to the 2018/19 indoor bowling season.
Joe Peplow, our wheelchair bowler, recently competed in a National open singles competition run by the English Amputee and Les Autres Bowls Association (EALABA) held over two days at Tamworth. This was the first time that Joe had competed in this type of event. Twenty four bowlers, including some international players, took part; the games being played on a round-robin system. Joe won two games finishing in a very creditable 8th place. Joe has also competed in the EALABA National Drawn Pairs competition at the same venue in October and reached the final losing narrowly in the final. Pictured below is Joe with his drawn playing partner Bob Love.
The new indoor season has already started at Malvern Hills IBC with teams competing in a number of leagues throughout the week. Novice and experienced bowlers of all standards are always welcome at the club which is inclusive to all ages and all levels of ability/disability and specially adapted wheelchairs are available if required. There are still plenty of opportunities for bowlers to turn up and play on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Friday evening league is also open to non-members and coaching is available on Wednesday evenings. The annual fee for new members is £10.00 for the first year.
